Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in theOil & Gas, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 3.60% or 75.0 points to trade at 2158.0 at the close. Meanwhile, RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) added 1.48% or 4.00 points to end at 275.00 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 1.35% or 6.00 points to 451.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which fell 2.64% or 1.91 points to trade at 70.51 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.15% or 2900 points to end at 132000 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was down 2.09% or 0.0016 points to 0.0758.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 104 to 86 and 10 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.07% to 35.930.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.36% or 4.20 to $1167.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.34% or 1.33 to hit $55.60 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.59% or 1.60 to trade at $60.47 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.84% to 55.967, while EUR/RUB rose 0.81% to 62.120.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.26.
