No win no fee agreements were introduced to the UK in 1995 to help people get access to justice, even if they couldn't afford to pay for legal representation themselves.

Before the Government introduced changes to the way the system worked in England and Wales in April 2013, the losing side usually paid all of the legal costs associated with the claim, meaning the claimant would keep all of the compensation awarded.
Now, solicitors can still offer a no win no fee service, but claimants may be expected to contribute to their legal costs from any compensation they receive. This varies on a case by case basis, and will be fully explained by your solicitor. Our solicitors work with full transparency, so there won't be any surprises.

Claiming against your employer
A number of the queries we receive about no win no fee claims relate to people claiming against their employer. Some people are naturally worried that if they make a claim against their boss or employer, they risk losing their job.
This isn’t the case. Your employer isn’t allowed to sack you simply for making a no win no fee claim against them. Doing so would amount to unfair dismissal, and would leave them open to the risk of further legal complications.
Also, all employers have a legal duty to hold appropriate insurance to protect their employees. This means that any compensation awarded to you following an accident or injury at work is paid out by your employer’s insurance company, so you needn’t worry that your company will be at financial risk due to your claim.
